And for those who would like to face an even higher difficulty, already announced DLCs will be adding more challenge levels and speed trials along with some new special bots. After the player defeats the boss of each galaxy, the Bot they unlock is a classic PlayStation character. This Bot will then open up a new world based on their respective game. Everything from Kratos’ critically-acclaimed soft reboot is used in its Astro Bot level, like the environment or Bear McCreary’s score. These convey the God of War experience, but there’s an added twist. This is Team Asobi’s take on God of War, and the developers add a good bit of humor and fun.
Immerse yourself in new worlds and wild new adventures with a huge range of unique titles available now and coming soon. Collect coins in-game to play the crane mini-game for prizes, letting you create an interactive diorama of your past adventures. Collecting these bots is just scratching the surface of Astro’s commitment to honoring what came before it.
Like any excellent platformer, Astro Bot’s movement feels responsive and trustworthy. Despite the game consistently giving you new ways to traverse its puzzling pathways, you’ll almost always feel like you have a good grip on clearing gaps, timing attacks on enemies, and dodging bosses with expertise. The camera caused a few rare instances of what felt like selling me out, but the game’s checkpoints are so numerous and the load times are virtually non-existent, such that this never became a pain point for me. Players have long expected more DLC, however, as a number of unreleased bots appeared in the Astro Bots credits.
However, the way it presents itself and the way it integrates its older titles into the game make it a unique experience. Astro Bot is nothing short of a masterpiece, an ingenious platformer filled with vibrant worlds and ingenious design. It’s a game that oozes creativity, consistently delighting and surprising the player with new mechanics, gameplay twists, smart boss battles, and jaw-dropping set-piece moments. But past that, it’s also a grand celebration of PlayStation and video game history as a whole — the only game that’s been able to rival Super Smash Bros. in that regard.
The game on ps5 i’ve been waiting for since i got one basically… The switch has remained my most played platform after all these years because of the lack of games like this, for me the essense of gaming… It’s a perfect recipe for a 3D platformer, encouraging you to explore every nook and cranny in search of those adorable little droids. The first of these levels allows Astro to borrow the Leviathan Axe from God of War’s Kratos. You press the R2 button to use your ability and it flies through the sky. https://af88.bid/ with the game that gave life to this special level instantly understands what to do.

It will also be interesting to see what kind of new experiences Team Asobi can deliver with its deep knowledge of the DualSense controller. By paying respect to PlayStation’s heritage in new interactive ways, Astro Bot also seems like the perfect game to mark PlayStation’s 30th anniversary. The result was Astro’s Playroom, a 3D platformer that was, once again, released as a free game designed to showcase a new piece of hardware.
Younger players who aren’t familiar with it will surely want to learn more about the monkey-catching game when the level ends. Just like how Team Asobi did it for Astro’s Playroom, Astro Bot has a ton of PlayStation Easter Eggs. Besides the standard Bots, there are over 100 bots that are dressed up as past PlayStation characters. There are even soem dressed up as characters from third-party games, like Resident Evil and Tomb Raider. All the VIP bots are well thought out, as each one has tongue-in-cheek descriptions and is all-around adorable.
This game is in my stocking ($33 US from Costco last month), so I probably won’t get to play that level this year. It’s a refreshing change of pace that means you end up spending much more time here than in the more straightforward levels. However, Winter Wonder doesn’t just stand out for its immaculate festive vibes. It also happens to be one of the best (if not the best) levels in the entire game. A total of seven Special Bots await rescue, each the reward for solving puzzles and exploring the level fully.
Obviously, there’s no way you can feature everything from across four decades of gaming, but I consistently found myself amazed by the rich variety of references and games featured. Finding these little bots was like taking a walk down memory lane, fondly remembering the hours I sunk into these beloved titles, while providing value for this current experience. As you’d expect from a 3D platformer, Astro Bot contains hundreds of collectibles for you to find. In this part of our Astro Bot guide, we have checklists for where to find every collectible in the game, including all Bots, Puzzle Pieces, Lost Galaxy Warp Portals, and more in your quest for 100%.
The Best Open-world Rpgs With Deep Character Builds And Total Freedom
Time trials and secret areas that unlock after collecting enough hidden materials can provide many more hours of entertainment, especially if time trial modes exist for friends to compete against one another. While there are hidden levels to discover in Astro Bot, after those are completed, there is little incentive to revisit previously conquered stages. This means that after the thrill of the game’s nostalgic moments wears off, there is not much reason to play after its 15 hours are up. [newline]Finding each of these characters is a constant highlight of Astro Bot.
Is it good with cameos yes (not a graveyard indeed), is it good with core mechanics IT OFFERS yes, level design eh the themes are generic. @MrMeeeseeeks Many of them are from the defunct Japan Studio that was shut down by Sony in 2021. Those devs are also real gamers with passion and vision who made tons of classic and unique games back then.
Not to mention the challenges and speed runs they will be adding in the next few months. I have bought £70 games which have bored me within 3 hours and £15 games that I play for years. Price point is fine and if not it will be on sale within 6 months…no one is forcing you to buy it day one or at all for that matter. Many platformers have done a lot over the years in abilities/level design/marketing not reaching people, more dialogue/combat/other crap & level design/movesets taking a hit. Does it have unique enough mechanics like older platformers nope. The ears look cool, no mechanic, small size theme/cosmetic, sigh.
Everything constantly moves around you, imbuing every level with life beyond the scraps you’ll engage in with the game’s enemies. Each level’s theme is brought to life with aesthetic assets and design ideas that strengthen their themes. Stranded in space following an attack from a googly-eyed alien, Astro’s mission is to repair their ship and rescue all 300 pals scattered across five main clusters of planets, each composed of individual levels. Naturally, the story is not the focus here, and yet I was so immersed in the 15-hour game that I beat it in two long sittings. It may be 2024’s most immersive game, and it achieves that without a line of dialogue.
200 Bots are required to clear the main story, as the final locked level, Falcon Mcfly, requires 200 Bots to access. Bots (formerly AR Bots and VR Bots) are a major species within the Astro Bot series. Appearing in every installment to date, they serve as the crew of Astro Bot, and their rescue appears as an objective throughout the games.
